Terms and Conditions of Entry
Please carefully review the following terms and conditions before entering the Competition to ensure your eligibility:
1. Competition Organizer: This Competition is organized by HezMusic Production and Prominent Education & Skills, in partnership with ArtsFAS, Yayasan Hasanah, and the Ministry of Finance Malaysia.
2. Disqualification: The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any band at any time if there is a reasonable belief that they have violated any of these terms and conditions or engaged in any unlawful or improper conduct that could undermine the fair and proper conduct of the Competition or the reputation of HezMusic Production, Prominent Education & Skills, ArtsFAS, Yayasan Hasanah, or the Ministry of Finance Malaysia.
3. Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for entry, bands must:
- Include a minimum of one (1) Sabah Traditional instrument.
- Have a band with a maximum of six (6) and a minimum of two (2) members; solo participants are ineligible.
- Not have signed a contract with a major record company.
4. Entry Fee: A fee of RM150 per group is required for entry to be paid to Account Number
562889121477 Maybank (Hezmusic Production). Please email the transfer
receipt together with your registration submission. The entry fee will not be
refunded and groups that fail to pay the entry fee are not allowed to
participate in the competition.
5. Nationality: All Entrants must be Malaysian nationals.
6. Age Requirement: Entrants who are under 18 years of age on the date of the competition
must present a parental consent letter to participate in the competition. Consent Letters must be returned with the band registration form.
7. Selection of
Songs & Clothing: Selection of songs and performances should not touch
religious, political, obscene and Black Metal concepts are strictly prohibited.
- Entrants are allowed to bring their own creativity and songs to each performance. Additional scoring will be given to groups that bring their own songs.
- Clothing should be modest and suitable for the performance.
8. Submission Deadline: To enter the Competition, participants must record and upload a “RAW” video lasting 3 to 10 minutes of their band's performance. Email the video link to hezmusicproduction@gmail.com no later than 11:59 pm on 30th September 2023.
9. Finalists Selection: The professional judges will review each Entrants' performance and, at its sole discretion, select ten (10) finalists for the Competition. The organizer's determination of the finalists is final and not subject to review.
10. Roster Changes: Last-minute roster changes are not permitted. The members who perform in the battles and at the finals are final. In other words, band hopping is not allowed, regardless of whether your band is selected or not.
11. Multiple Bands: Band members may not participate and compete in more than one band.
12. Finalists Announcement: The ten (10)
finalists will be announced at 3pm on Thursday, 5 October 2023, on the HezMusic
website as well as through the HezMusic and Spirit of Sabah social media
accounts.
13. Instrumental Requirements: The ten (10) shortlisted finalists must bring their own musical instruments and cables to the Final Battle on 22nd October 2023. The organizer will provide the following:
- 1x drum
- 1x bass amplifier
- 1x keyboard amplifier
- 2x electric guitar amplifier
- 2x direct input
- 3x vocal microphones
14. Prizes: The winner of the Competition will receive the following prize:
- An opportunity to perform at any Spirit of Sabah events.
- A trophy
- RM5,000 in cash
The runner-up of the Competition will receive the following prize:
- An opportunity to perform at any Spirit of Sabah events.
- A trophy
- RM2,500 in cash
The Second runner-up of the Competition will receive the following prize:
- An opportunity to perform at any Spirit of Sabah events.
- A trophy
- RM1,500 in cash
15. Prize Conditions: Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or used for advertising, promotional, or commercial purposes. The organizer reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone found in violation of this condition.
16. Participation in Additional Programs: The top three (3) winners must be available to participate in the program "Apresiasi & Wacana Industri Seni dan Bengkel Muzik" scheduled for Saturday, 18th November 2023 (details to be informed soon).
17. Liability: The organizer will not be liable for any damages or losses incurred as a result of the Competition.
18. Indemnification: Each Entrant releases and indemnifies the organizer, its employees, officers, contractors, and agents to the full extent permitted by law from any claims, suits, actions, or proceedings (including legal costs on an indemnity basis) in connection with the Competition.
19. Discrepancy: The English version shall prevail in case of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English version and its Malay translation.
